Watermelon Granita

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

This recipe is for Watermelon Granita. It's a frozen fruit slush that is extremely refreshing, and only uses three ingredients!! A granita is perfect as a refreshing treat at any summer Iftar. Serve alongside fresh watermelon for a cooling end to any long fast. May Allah accept all our fasts and worship - Ameen.
I would also like to remind you of my other blog - British Muslim Girl. Take a look, and inshallah, you will find it useful.

A Simple List of Ingredients:

1. Fresh Watermelon
2. Icing Sugar
3. Lemon Juice

Bismillah, let's begin!

To begin, take 2 pounds fresh watermelon chunks.

Place the chunks into a food processor.

Puree until smooth.

If you want a smooth granita, without the seeds, sieve the mixture into a bowl.

Pour the mixture into a freezer-proof bowl.

Next, take icing sugar and lemon juice.

Add 1 tablespoon icing sugar, and 1 and 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice.

Stir to combine, and then freeze, stirring occasionally, for 5 hours.

When you want to serve, remove the frozen granita from the freezer, and allow to defrost slightly.

Scrape the granita into a slush like consistency, with a fork.

Serve immediately, with more fresh watermelon slices, if you wish, for a refreshing treat.

Wasalaam!
