Post 100 - Chocolate Chip Cookies

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

This recipe is for Chocolate Chip Cookies, and this is my 100th post. It feels like only yesterday that I started writing this blog, and the first recipe I posted was this one for cookies. I decided to post it again but this time with step by step photos.
In my first post for these cookies, I mentioned that they were an American invention. But when I looked up the history of cookies, I discovered that "Cookies appear to have their origins in 7th century Persia, shortly after the use of sugar became relatively common in the region. They spread to Europe through the Muslim conquest of Spain". (Wikipedia). How amazing is that? I had no idea!
A big Jazakallah Khairan and Thank You, to my parents, my friends and relatives who have viewed and supported this blog.

A Simple List of Ingredients:

1. Butter
2. White Sugar
3. Brown Sugar
4. An Egg
5. Non- Alcoholic Vanilla Flavouring
6. Plain Flour
7. Bicarbonate of Soda
8. Milk Chocolate Chips

Bismillah, let's start!

Into a large bowl, place 8 ounces softened butter. I used a  KitchenAid for this recipe.

Add 6 ounces white sugar.

Add 6 ounces brown sugar.

Add 1 egg.

Add 1 teaspoon vanilla flavouring.

Beat the mixture until light and fluffy.

Sieve in 12 ounces plain flour.

Sieve in 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda.

Fold in the flour and soda until completely mixed in.

Add the most important ingredient - 8 ounces milk chocolate chips.

Stir in the chocolate chips until combined.

Cover the cookie dough with clingfilm, and place in the fridge for 1 hour. This is to make the dough firm.

Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4. Grease and line baking trays, and spoon on balls of cookie dough.
I made giant and normal size cookies. These are the giant ones. Make sure to leave a gap between each cookie.

These are the mini ones.

Bake the cookies for 15 minutes until golden brown, at Gas Mark 4.

Once baked, cool on wire racks.

Store in an airtight container, and consume within a few days, but I assure you, they won't last that long!

Wasalaam!
