Pear and Walnut Loaf

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!



This recipe is for a Pear and Walnut Loaf. This is a classic tea loaf with a combination of soft sweet pear and crunchy walnut. When baked it has quite a moist texture which is wonderful with or without tea.

A Simple List of Ingredients:

1. Pears
2. Walnuts
3. Plain Flour
4. Baking Powder
5. Sugar
6. Butter
7. Eggs
8. Milk

Bismillah, let’s start!

Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4.


To start, sift 8 ounces plain flour into a large bowl.



Next, sift in 2 teaspoons baking powder.



Take 6 ounces sugar.






Add the sugar to the bowl, and stir well to combine.



Next, take 4 ounces walnuts, roughly chopped.



Next, take 3 pears, peeled and roughly chopped.



Add the pears and walnuts to the flour mixture.



Stir well to coat the pears and walnuts, and set aside.





Next, place 100 ml milk into a bowl.



Add 2 eggs.



Whisk the milk and egg together.



Next, take 4 ounces melted butter, cooled.



Add the milk mixture and the melted butter to the dry ingredients.



Stir the mixture well until combined.



Take a loaf tin, and grease and line it.



Pour the batter into the loaf tin. Bake in the preheated oven at Gas Mark 4 for 45 minutes.



Once baked, allow to cool completely before slicing and serving with a cup of tea!


Pear and Walnut Loaf

What You Need

·     8 ounces (226 grams) Plain Flour
·     2 teaspoons Baking Powder
·     6 ounces (170 grams) Sugar
·     4 ounces (113 grams) Walnuts, roughly chopped
·     3 Pears, peeled and roughly chopped
·     100 ml Milk
·     2 Eggs
·     4 ounces (113 grams) Butter, melted and cooled

What To Do

1. Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4, and grease and line a loaf tin.

2. Sift the flour and baking powder into a large bowl. Stir in the sugar. Then, add the walnuts and pears, and stir well. Set aside.

3. Whisk the milk and eggs together in a bowl. Add this mixture to the dry mixture, along with the melted butter. Stir well.

4. Pour the batter into the loaf tin, and bake in the oven for 45 minutes. Cool completely before slicing.
