Egg Fried Rice

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

This recipe is for Egg Fried Rice. It is so quick and easy to make, and gets rid of any leftover boiled rice. The most important thing to remember here is the rice you use must be  cooked but be cold, so one day old rice is always best. Do not use freshly cooked rice!

A Simple List of Ingredients:

1. An Egg
2. Vegetable Oil
3. Cold Cooked Rice
4. Peas
5. Spring Onions
6. Soy Sauce
7. White Pepper

Bismillah, let's start!

To start, place 1 egg into a bowl.

Add 2 teaspoons vegetable oil.

Beat together with a fork, and set aside.

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok or a large frying pan.

Once the oil is almost smoking hot, add 7 ounces cold cooked rice. My rice already had peas in it, but if yours is plain, add a handful of frozen peas as well.

Stir fry the rice for 4 minutes until it's completely heated through.

Next, add 2 chopped spring onions.

Stir fry constantly for 2 minutes.

Season well with a few splashes of soy sauce. Remember, no salt is added in this dish because there is a lot of salt in the soy sauce.

Next, add white pepper, to taste.

Push the rice to one side of the pan.

Pour in the beaten egg onto the empty side, and leave for 10 seconds so it sets.

Next, quickly break up and stir in the egg to the rice.

Stir fry for another minute.

Serve straight away. This is especially good with Chicken Manchurian
